[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 9th that it will adjust the one-way taxi fare for the Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Innovation City route.
This fare adjustment was promoted in response to opinions that, although the Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Innovation City is adjacent to Gwangju and the meter fare is at the city fare level, there is inconvenience because the business area is different and taxis have to return empty.
Accordingly, Gwangju City has prepared a new fare table that adds a 30% surcharge to the existing meter fare for taxis operating in the Innovation City, and will implement it from 0:00 on the 17th.
Previously, when traveling about 15 km by taxi, a meter fare of 14,600 KRW was charged, but from the 17th, the new fare table will be applied, and a surcharge will be added, requiring a payment of 19,000 KRW.
Gwangju City expects that the fare adjustment will resolve frequent refusals of service and fare disputes.
In addition, the city plans to minimize user inconvenience by placing the fare table inside taxis and posting the changes at major transportation facilities such as terminals and airports as part of promotional activities.
