청 "Regret Over Unharmonious Aspects Between Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General"

"Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol Not Considering No-Confidence Vote"..."Balanced Personnel Appointments Were Important in Prosecutor Personnel Decisions"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Blue House expressed regret over the situation that occurred during the exchange of opinions between Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae and Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.

A senior Blue House official said on the 9th during a meeting with reporters, "Regardless of what was said by the party or the Ministry of Justice, there was no coordination with us or anything like that," adding, "However, we regret the part where the process of the minister listening to the prosecutor general's opinion was not smooth."

When asked whether the regret was directed at Prosecutor General Yoon, the senior Blue House official explained, "The positions of the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor's Office are as much as the reporters know, and I also know that much. There is no need for me to recite what the Ministry of Justice said or what the prosecution said. I do not intend to scrutinize what the problem is one by one."

When asked if there was any distrust toward Prosecutor General Yoon, the senior Blue House official explained, "We are not considering any distrust toward Prosecutor General Yoon."

Regarding the recent prosecution personnel appointments, the senior Blue House official said, "Investigations speak through their results, and personnel appointments can be interpreted by the personnel results themselves," adding, "The Ministry of Justice has issued a statement on this appointment, and I understand that Minister Chu responded to various matters at the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee. We do not feel the need to add more comments about the personnel appointments."

The senior Blue House official added, "As the Ministry of Justice has stated, I think the appointments were made with an emphasis on balanced personnel and human rights investigation measures," and added, "Regardless of the prosecution personnel appointments, I believe that fair investigations will be conducted and trust that this will be the case." This effectively dismissed interpretations that the prosecution personnel changes would cause setbacks in investigations related to the power circle.
