[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] The 2020 LCK Spring Season will kick off on February 5.

Riot Games, the developer of the popular game "League of Legends" (LOL), announced the schedule for the "2020 League of Legends Champions Korea" (LCK) Spring Season on the 9th.

The LCK Spring regular league will open on February 5 at LoL Park located in Jongno, Seoul. Considering the Lunar New Year holiday and scheduling with international tournaments, the season will start about two weeks later than usual.

The regular league is scheduled to run until April 12, with the first round played five days a week excluding Mondays and Tuesdays. The second round will be held four days a week, from Thursday to Sunday.

As in the previous season, two matches will be played each day during the regular league, with the first match starting at 5 PM and the second at 8 PM.

This season, many teams, including last season's champion "T1," have undergone rebuilding and member changes. Notably, familiar faces who were not seen in the LCK last season, such as support player Gorilla, top laner Untara, and AD carry Mystic, have returned, much to the fans' delight.

Additionally, "APK Prince," promoted from the second-tier league "LoL Challengers Korea" through the LCK promotion-relegation matches, and "Hanwha Life Esports," which successfully retained its spot, have also strengthened their rosters, raising fans' expectations even higher.

In the recent "KeSPA Cup Ulsan," "Afreeca Freecs" upset predictions by winning the championship, emerging as a new contender, making it difficult to predict the winner of this season.

In particular, "Gen.G Esports," which formed a dream lineup known as the super team at the KeSPA Cup, and the strong team "DRX" failed to show notable performances, while "T1," which fielded many rookies, demonstrated performance beyond expectations, signaling an intense and competitive season ahead.
