[Featured Stock] RaonPeople Showcases AI Technology at Samsung and Intel CES... Full-Scale AI Business Launch

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] Raonpeople, an AI-based vision inspection solution provider, has reached its highest stock price since its listing. The stock price appears to have been influenced as global IT companies such as Samsung Electronics and Intel, showcased at CES, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, are promoting AI as a new growth engine.

As of 11 a.m. on the 9th, Raonpeople is trading at 26,550 KRW, up 13.7% from the previous day. During the session, the stock price rose to as high as 27,500 KRW.

Samsung Electronics, participating in CES, is unveiling connected living solutions and various new products applying AI, 5th generation (5G) mobile communications, and Internet of Things (IoT). Intel also announced next-generation AI chips and innovative platforms.

Raonpeople is a vision inspection solution provider based on artificial intelligence technology. It has developed camera module inspection, AI machine vision, and golf sensors. AI machine vision is a system that applies AI to cameras and image recognition algorithms.

Raonpeople has expanded into AI dental solutions and AI traffic solutions based on AI machine vision technology. Using AI deep learning and image processing technology, it developed a digital dental solution called the cephalo analysis program and supplies it to Japanese medical device companies. In the industrial sector, it is also attempting to enter the traffic control system business by utilizing AI technology verified in industrial fields and its self-developed intelligent traffic signal control technology.

There are still not many companies integrating AI technology while performing vision inspection. Representative companies possessing self-developed deep learning SDKs (Software Development Toolkits) include Raonpeople and Cognex (VIDi). Raonpeople explained that there is inevitably a performance gap between companies that have self-developed SDKs and those that do not. To achieve superior performance depending on situations or conditions by applying deep learning, a learning network (Net) is necessary. Companies with self-developed SDKs can tune the deep learning network according to the situation.

Lee Sangheon, a researcher at Hi Investment & Securities, said, "With changes in the smartphone camera module inspection environment and factory automation, demand for AI machine vision will increase," adding, "as sales begin to increase substantially, profitability will also improve."
