[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gachon University has dispatched 44 short-term language training students to the Hawaii Gachon Global Center located in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
The dispatched students will undergo language training and cultural experiences in Hawaii for four weeks, from the 6th of this month to the 2nd of next month.
Gachon University previously conducted a final selection of dispatched students through a comprehensive document review including credits, English scores, and participation records in international programs, as well as in-depth personality interviews and English interviews.
The Hawaii Gachon Global Center is located five minutes from the famous tourist spot Waikiki Beach and was opened in 2012.
The center is a three-story building with 32 rooms that can accommodate up to 60 people simultaneously, along with facilities such as a lounge, outdoor swimming pool, and PC LAB. Annually, about 300 students stay for periods ranging from four weeks to a maximum of 15 weeks to study English and experience local culture. So far, over 1,500 students have visited this place for language training.
Gachon University covers tuition fees, dormitory fees, and round-trip airfare to reduce the economic burden on students.
Choi Kyung-jin, Director of International Exchange at Gachon University, explained, "In the global era, we decided to dispatch trainees for a four-week course because we believe that only by acquiring foreign language skills and developing an international sensibility can one succeed on the international stage."
