'Modern Family' Choi Jun-yong and remarried Han Areum reveal reason for "lifelong ostomy bag" colon resection surgery confession

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] The family love of the couple Choi Junyong and Han Areum, who have a 15-year age gap, was highlighted on the MBN variety show 'Modern Family.'

In the 45th episode of MBN's 'Modern Family' aired on the 3rd, Choi Junyong and Han Areum were shown visiting a hospital. On that day, the two entered the hospital with serious expressions.

Han Areum had undergone a colectomy in 2013 and had to wear a colostomy bag for life. It is known that Choi Junyong was aware of this fact since they were dating.

The couple visited the hospital to check Han Areum's current condition and to learn about the possibility of pregnancy. The attending physician who appeared on the show said, "(Han Areum's) natural pregnancy is possible, but the adenomatous polyposis she suffers from is a hereditary disease," adding, "Their child may also inherit the same disease later."

After returning home, Han Areum shed tears while sharing anecdotes about wearing the colostomy bag after the colectomy. She said, "Only my husband's qualities were highlighted on the show and outside, making it seem like I was the one sacrificing. But from my perspective, it was my husband who held me when I was in pain. I confessed my physical condition on the show because I wanted to reveal my husband's true self."

Choi Junyong also expressed his feelings, saying, "Although I am much older, I want to live just one more minute to take care of my wife when she becomes unable to move in the future."
