Backpacker, which operates the online handmade market Ideas, recently launched a video lecture service where users can learn how to make handmade products. The service, called "Online Geumson Class," was created with direct participation from artists who have shops on Ideas.
The Online Geumson Class can be accessed via PC or smartphone by purchasing an online course pass on Ideas, with a basic course duration of six months. Currently, classes in various fields are registered, including leather craft by the popular Ideas artist "SundaySky," stained glass, silver clay craft, French embroidery, drawing, and silk screen printing. Necessary materials are also sold together.
Kim Donghwan, CEO of Backpacker, said, "The feature is providing a highly complete curriculum through education by verified artists, so anyone who sets their mind to it can become a professional artist." He added, "Even those interested in handmade crafts but found it difficult to start will be able to learn easily."
There is also Class101, where you can take online lectures in various categories such as art, crafts, digital drawing, and cooking. Under the vision of "so that everyone in the world can live doing what they love," Class101 offers hobby lecture videos created by creators in various fields. Supplies needed for the lectures can also be purchased collectively through the site, making it easier for students to start their hobbies.
Recently, with the launch of the "101 Signature" and "101 Career" lines, including hip-hop producer Gray and Shin Saimdang’s Smart Store know-how class, Class101 has demonstrated its leading strength in the online class industry. A Class101 representative said, "We will continue to think and grow to become a platform at the starting point of all learning."
