[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] The AfricaTV BJ involved in a drunk driving incident that resulted in the death of a motorcycle rider has apologized and announced a temporary suspension of broadcasts.

BJ A stated on his AfricaTV channel on the 1st, "Kang Mo, a member of our crew, caused a traffic accident due to drunk driving on the 31st of last month and is currently detained at the police station for investigation," adding, "I apologize to the victim who passed away and their bereaved family due to this incident."

He continued, "As the person responsible for leading the crew, I feel accountable and sincerely apologize," and said, "If Kang Mo’s charges are proven true, I have no intention of defending him," emphasizing, "Regardless of the circumstances, drunk driving is clearly a crime."

A added, "After an emergency meeting with all BJs in the crew, we have decided to suspend crew activities and halt broadcasts for the time being. Once again, I bow my head and sincerely apologize."

A and Kang are members of the same crew, with A serving as the crew leader. It is known that other popular BJs are also part of this crew.

Earlier, on the morning of December 31 last year, Kang was driving under the influence on a road in Seocho-gu, Seoul, when he collided with a curb beside the road. A motorcycle rider in his 30s, who was following behind, collided with Kang’s vehicle and died.

According to the police investigation at the time, Kang’s blood alcohol concentration was at a level warranting license suspension.
