Yangcheon-gu Operates 'Smart Parking Complaint Management System'

Real-Time Monitoring of Parking Complaints and Parking Enforcement Vehicle Locations

Yangcheon-gu Operates 'Smart Parking Complaint Management System'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Su-young) has been fully operating the nation’s first ‘Smart Parking Civil Complaint Management System’ since January to improve the process of handling parking complaints.

The Smart Parking Civil Complaint Management System is a system that can monitor the location of parking complaints and parking enforcement vehicles in real time.

It also collects and analyzes information on the timing, region, frequency, and types of received complaints.

The district operates the ‘Smart Parking Civil Complaint Management System’ to respond more quickly and efficiently to the continuously increasing parking complaints by utilizing spatial information, and to analyze the characteristics of parking complaints to reflect them in policies.

The system was built after four months of development by integrating IoT (Internet of Things) technology linked with Yangcheon-gu’s own GNSS-based location control platform and the spatial information administrative support system.

In the established Smart Parking Civil Complaint Management System, the location of all received complaints and the movement information of enforcement vehicles are displayed on the map in real time. Based on this, the parking complaint situation room and on-site enforcement officers can monitor bidirectionally, enabling integrated and prompt complaint handling including complaint reception, on-site photo registration, input, and confirmation of processing results according to the situation on site.

Additionally, the system collects and analyzes information on the timing, region, and types of parking complaints received through various channels such as phone, visits, and the internet. Based on the analyzed data, factors for improving administrative services will be identified and reflected in policies related to transportation and parking.

Kim Su-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “Spatial information is a core growth engine of smart cities in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Going forward, we will actively utilize the spatial information system owned by Yangcheon-gu to realize resident-tailored open administration and implement smart administration that proposes solutions to urban problems through spatial information and big data analysis.”
