[Asia Economy Reporter So-yeon Park] SK Innovation will showcase its future electric vehicle vision, 'SK Inside,' at CES 2020, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition.
SK Innovation announced on the 2nd that it will be the only company from the domestic petrochemical industry to participate in CES 2020, held from the 7th to the 10th (local time) in Las Vegas, USA.
'SK Inside' is a vision model concretized as a package of cutting-edge batteries, ultra-lightweight and eco-friendly materials, and various lubricant products necessary for future electric vehicle innovation, developed by SK Innovation and its subsidiaries including SK Global Chemical, SK Lubricants, and SK IE Technology.
Group affiliates such as SK Telecom, SK Hynix, and SKC, which are jointly participating in the exhibition, also plan to create synergy together.
SK Innovation will reveal core electric vehicle battery technologies and materials. It also plans to exhibit lithium-ion separator technology, a key material that maintains stability and enhances output between the battery's cathode and anode.
Combining model cars and large screen videos, the company will present its future electric vehicle vision, and will also display models of future mobility beyond electric vehicles.
According to SK Innovation, this concretizes the 'Beyond EV' strategy to expand business areas into new E-mobility beyond electric vehicles, which was announced by CEO Kim Jun at a press briefing in May last year.
In addition, SK Global Chemical will exhibit eco-friendly and ultra-lightweight automotive interior and exterior materials, including vehicle structures, dashboards, automotive bumpers, door trims, and tires.
SK Lubricants will showcase various lubricant products optimized for electric vehicle batteries, and SK IE Technology will introduce Flexible Cover Window (FCW), a core material for flexible (bendable) displays.
CEO Kim Jun said, "Through SK Inside, we will play the role of an oasis that enables E-mobility innovation and contributes to the industrial ecosystem," adding, "This emphasizes that SK Innovation is the best-prepared partner for E-mobility innovation."
