Crowds Fill Yeongcheon Citizens' Hall Despite Spring Rain
Regional Political and Business Leaders Gather in Full Force
The publication celebration for Kim Seop, pre-candidate for Mayor of Yeongcheon, was held with great success at the Yeongcheon Citizens' Hall on March 2, with over 2,500 people in attendance.
Despite the inclement weather, with spring rain falling that day, crowds of people gathered around the Citizens' Hall even before the event began, causing traffic congestion and demonstrating the high level of public interest.
Inside the venue, all 800 seats were filled, and many citizens who could not secure a seat formed long lines around the event hall and lobby. The crowd was so large that some attendees could not even enter, drawing further attention.
The event was attended by National Assembly Member Lee Manhee, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Joo Ho-young, Supreme Council Member Kim Jaewon of the People Power Party, former head coach of the Korean national football team Shin Taeyong, Chairman of the Yeongcheon City Council Kim Seontae, as well as Yeongcheon City Council members Kim Sangho, Ha Gitae, Kim Jonguk, Kwon Gihan, and Bae Suye. Many other political figures from the region also joined to offer their congratulations.
The large turnout of key officials from the Yeongcheon city branch of the party also drew attention.
In addition, the event venue was packed to capacity as Kim Ilhong, head of the Yeongcheon branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, major local institution and organization heads, numerous youth association presidents and members, and prominent figures from all walks of life attended in large numbers.
The event featured an introduction of the book, a greeting from candidate Kim, congratulatory speeches, and a commemorative ceremony. Attendees responded with enthusiastic applause and cheers, reflecting their strong interest and high expectations.
In his greeting, pre-candidate Kim Seop said, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to all the citizens who made the precious journey here despite the spring rain. The title of the book was inspired by a phrase from my father's war diary. Just as the title 'With Hope as Our Light' suggests, I hope that every citizen will live with hope in their hearts."
Meanwhile, this publication celebration had already attracted considerable local attention even before the event, and with the actual attendance far exceeding expectations, it is being evaluated as an occasion that confirmed the political presence of pre-candidate Kim Seop.
