The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on March 2 that, effective 6 p.m., a temporary special travel advisory will be issued for the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
With this measure, all areas in these countries that were previously under Level 1 (Travel Caution) and Level 2 (Reconsider Travel) advisories will be elevated to a Special Travel Advisory (Level 2.5), while areas designated as Level 3 (Recommendation to Leave) will remain unchanged.
A Special Travel Advisory is issued in cases of urgent and short-term danger. It recommends guidelines equivalent to those for Level 2 (Reconsider Travel) or higher, but lower than Level 3 (Recommendation to Leave).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged, "We ask citizens planning to visit the affected areas to cancel or postpone their trips, and those already staying in these regions to relocate to safer areas."
