As the United States launched a military operation against Iran, the White House released images showing President Donald Trump directing the operation.

On the 1st, the White House posted on X (formerly Twitter) photos of President Trump monitoring the Iran airstrike from the Situation Room set up at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, rather than from the White House Oval Office. He was joined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Cain, and White House Chief of Staff Suzy Wiles.
The caption read, "President Trump, on February 28, 2026, is monitoring the United States military operation in Iran, Operation Epic Fury." It was also reported that, following the operation, President Trump held phone calls with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, leaders of Middle Eastern allies such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Another photo shows Vice President JD Vance monitoring the airstrike in the White House Situation Room. Vice President Vance is accompanied by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, all observing the progress of the airstrike.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time President Trump has directed a military operation from the Mar-a-Lago Situation Room. In January, during "Operation Resolute Resolve," which involved the capture and extradition of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, President Trump also remained at Mar-a-Lago to oversee the operation. At that time, the White House released photos of President Trump watching the capture process of President Maduro from the Situation Room at Mar-a-Lago.
On that occasion, prior to the commencement of the operation, President Trump visited a shopping center in Lake Worth near the Mar-a-Lago resort to personally purchase building materials such as marble for renovations at the White House banquet hall. After having dinner on the Mar-a-Lago terrace, he issued the final order to commence the operation at approximately 10:45 p.m.
