Hampyeong County, South Jeolla Province, is launching support measures to reduce the burden of relocation for young newcomers and to help them settle stably in the area.
On March 2, Hampyeong County announced that it will implement the “Relocation Moving Expenses Support Program for Young Residents” starting this year, aiming to ease the financial burden of residential relocation for young people and create an environment for stable settlement in Hampyeong County.
Eligible applicants are heads of households aged 19 to 49 who, as of the announcement date, have lived in another local government area for more than one year and have officially moved to Hampyeong County on or after January 1, 2026. The support grants are as follows: up to 500,000 won for single-person households, up to 600,000 won for two-person households, up to 700,000 won for three-person households, and up to 800,000 won for households of four or more.
Notably, because this project is being implemented for the first time this year, young people who have already completed their move after January 1 are also eligible to apply retroactively.
Applications for the program are open until May 29, and actual expenses incurred for brokerage fees and moving costs during the relocation process will be reimbursed within the household limit. The moving expense support will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis within the budget.
An official from Hampyeong County stated, "The Relocation Moving Expenses Support Program for Young Residents is a measure to attract young people and overcome the threat of population decline. We will continue to identify and support policies that provide tangible benefits to young people going forward."
