Additional Preliminary Candidates for Busan Mayor to Be Recruited from March 9 to 13
The Democratic Party of Korea has decided to select its general election candidates for four regions-Seoul, Gyeonggi, Ulsan, and Jeonnam-Gwangju-through primary elections for the June 3 local elections.
Kim Isu, Chair of the Nomination Management Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, is announcing the results of the candidate screening on the 2nd at the party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
On March 2, Kim Isu, Chair of the Candidate Selection Committee, announced this nomination policy at the party's headquarters in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
Regarding the Seoul primary, Chair Kim stated, "All candidates who applied have been confirmed as primary candidates." As a result, six people-Assemblymen Kim Youngbae, Park Jumin, Park Hongkeun, and Jun Hyunhee, as well as Jeong Wonoh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, and Kim Hyungnam, former Secretary-General of the Center for Military Human Rights-will compete to become the party's candidate for Seoul Mayor.
In Gyeonggi Province, all applicants have also been confirmed as primary candidates, so the current governor Kim Dongyeon, along with Assemblymen Kwon Chilsung, Choo Mi-ae, Han Junho, and former Assemblyman Yang Kidae, will participate in the primary.
For the Ulsan mayoral candidacy, Assemblyman Kim Sangwook, former Ulsan Mayor Song Cheolho, Ahn Jaehyun, former Standing Representative of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation Ulsan Regional Committee, and Lee Sunho, former Blue House Secretary for Autonomous Development, will compete.
In Jeonnam-Gwangju, where the elections are held jointly, preliminary candidates Kang Gijeong, Kim Youngrok, Min Hyungbae, Shin Jeonghoon, Lee Gaeho, Lee Byunghoon, Jung Junho, and Joo Cheolhyeon are all vying for the single candidate slot for the general election. The party's Candidate Selection Committee also decided to recruit additional preliminary candidates for the Busan mayoral race from March 9 to 13.
