Over 250 Gather at Uijeongbu Arts Center
Honoring Independence Activists and Chanting "Long Live Korean Independence"
Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province held the "107th Anniversary of the March 1st Movement Commemoration Ceremony" at the Uijeongbu Arts Center Small Theater on March 1, 2026.

Approximately 250 people attended the event, including members of the Liberation Association, leaders of veterans and security organizations, local members of the National Assembly, and city and provincial council members.
This year's ceremony provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on the historical significance of March 1st Independence Movement Day and the dedication of independence activists through various performances. In particular, all attendees joined together in shouting "Long Live Korean Independence," recreating the spirit of March 1919.
The Uijeongbu City Dance Troupe performed an original dance embodying the spirit of the March 1st Movement, while the Kyungmin University Taekwondo Demonstration Team presented a powerful performance expressing national pride and spirit. The performances conveyed a profound message honoring the sacrifice and dedication of the forebears.

A city official stated, "The March 1st Movement was a great decision in which we declared ourselves the true owners of our nation," and added, "We will ensure that the sacrifice and dedication shown by our ancestors are met with the respect and honor they deserve."
