First-Come, First-Served Registration Opens March 3 on District Website
Generative AI-Focused Spaces Launched at Banpo and Yangjae Libraries
Seocho District in Seoul (District Mayor Jeon Seongsoo) will launch two consecutive initiatives to enhance residents' digital skills in line with the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
Starting March 3, the district will operate the 'Seocho AI ZONE' at Banpo Library and Yangjae Library. The district has upgraded existing digital booths, previously used exclusively for video conferencing, with high-performance PCs and other equipment. The renovated spaces allow residents to directly experience not only paid generative AI services such as ChatGPT and Claude, but also AI tools specialized in image and video processing.
Reservations can be made either through the Seocho District Office website or on site. Additionally, by using the district-operated behavioral AI chatbot 'Seocho AIZent', users can conveniently book via mobile. The district plans to continuously monitor usage and is considering the gradual expansion of the AI ZONE.
From March 9, the '2026 AI & Digital Literacy Education for Residents' will also resume. The Seocho Smart Edu Center, located within the Yangjae Transfer Parking Lot, will offer both regular classes (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and special lectures (Mondays). Participation is open not only to residents but also to local business owners and employees. The program is practice-oriented, covering topics such as content creation using AI and how to use smart devices, and also includes education on AI ethics. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis via the district office’s integrated reservation website from March 3 to March 6. Each person can apply for up to two courses per month. Last year, more than 2,000 people participated in this program, with a satisfaction rate exceeding 90%.
Jeon Seongsoo, Mayor of Seocho District, stated, "Artificial intelligence is no longer just for a select group of experts; it is an essential competency that all residents should utilize in their daily lives and work. We will continue to expand various AI-friendly policies so that residents can improve their digital competitiveness and everyone can benefit from advances in technology."
