Accident Occurs While Moving 1-Ton Ship Block with Crane
Police and Labor Ministry Investigate Circumstances
A Cambodian migrant worker died after a ship block collapsed at a shipyard in Daebul Industrial Complex, Yeongam, South Jeolla Province.
At approximately 11:43 a.m. on February 28, at the first shipyard of Daehan Shipbuilding in Samho-eup, Yeongam-gun, South Jeolla Province, a 1-ton ship block toppled over during work, trapping a 35-year-old Cambodian national, identified as A.
After receiving the emergency call, the fire authorities rushed to the scene, rescued A, and transported him to Mokpo Central Hospital. However, A was in cardiac arrest and ultimately died.
The police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, suspecting that it occurred while the ship block was being moved using a crane and other equipment.
