On March 1st, which is both the 3·1 Independence Movement Day and a Sunday, most parts of the country are expected to be mostly cloudy, with rain forecast for some regions.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the morning low on this day will range from -1 to 8 degrees Celsius, while the daytime high will be between 7 and 15 degrees Celsius, continuing above-average temperatures for this time of year. As daytime temperatures rise, there is a risk of ice melting and breaking on rivers and streams, so safety precautions are advised.
While most regions across the country will be mostly cloudy, rain or snow is expected in some areas such as the east coast and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, as well as the northern east coast and northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang Province. Light rain may also fall in the southern east coast of North Gyeongsang Province, as well as in Busan and Ulsan. Starting from the night, rain is also expected on Jeju Island.
From the early morning of March 2nd, rain or snow is forecast for the mountainous areas along the east coast of Gangwon Province, the Chungcheong region, the southern regions, and Jeju Island; from the morning, it will also spread to the Seoul metropolitan area and inland Gangwon Province. The expected snowfall is about 1 cm in northeastern Gyeonggi Province and 5 to 10 cm in the mountainous areas of Gangwon Province. The dry atmospheric conditions that had persisted in the Seoul metropolitan area and inland Gangwon Province are expected to improve with the precipitation.
Wave heights at sea will be 0.5 to 2.5 meters off the east coast, 0.5 to 1.5 meters off the west coast, and 0.5 to 2.5 meters off the south coast.
In the offshore areas (far seas within approximately 200 km from the coastline), wave heights are expected to reach 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea and South Sea, and 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the West Sea.
