Gyeongbokgung Palace will be closed for a day due to the upcoming performance by the group BTS in Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul, next month. The National Palace Museum of Korea, which is adjacent to Gyeongbokgung Palace, is also considering whether to close on the same day.

On February 28, the Royal Palaces and Tombs Center of the National Heritage Administration announced on its website, "Gyeongbokgung Palace will be closed on Saturday, March 21." Normally, the official closure day for Gyeongbokgung Palace is every Tuesday, but this exceptional closure is in response to the BTS performance scheduled for that day.
BTS is set to release its fifth studio album, "Arirang," on March 20, and will hold a comeback live concert the following evening, March 21, in the Gwanghwamun Square area. The concert will be broadcast live worldwide via the online streaming service Netflix. Police estimate that up to 260,000 people may gather for the event.
The Gwanghwamun area is preparing to prevent any safety incidents on the day of the event. The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, which is located near the square, will be closed on Saturday, the day of the performance, and Sejong Center is canceling or rescheduling its scheduled performances, including musicals, plays, and ballet productions.
