The Jeonnam branch of NongHyup announced that, together with the Jeonnam Farm Stay Village Council, it has selected 10 families with children who wish to experience agriculture and rural life, and will officially launch the Rural Tourism Supporters program starting March 1, 2026.
The 'Rural Tourism Supporters' program is operated from March to June, aiming to provide urban children with opportunities to experience the value of agriculture and to promote the appeal of rural areas. Participating families will stay and take part in hands-on experiences in 22 farm stay villages across Jeonnam. The program focuses on activities that children do not typically encounter, such as clam digging, harvesting plums, and rice planting.
In addition, participants plan to share their experiences and photos on blogs and social media, promoting rural experiences to other urban children and families interested in rural tourism.
Lee Kwangil, head of the branch, stated, “This Rural Tourism Supporters program will play a key role in showcasing the appeal of Jeonnam’s rural tourism to urban residents. Through these activities, we hope to encourage more urban visitors to rural areas and invigorate the local economy.”
