This site visit was prompted by the delayed signing of the basic agreement for the K-Culture Valley project, which was announced at a Gyeonggi Province press conference on the 6th, and the subsequent realization of project delays. The visit aimed to address concerns of Goyang residents and to directly listen to voices on-site in order to develop practical response measures at the city level.
On this day, Mayor Lee received detailed reports from relevant officials and project stakeholders on the status of negotiations and developments with Live Nation, and thoroughly inspected the entire project site.
Currently, the K-Culture Valley project is facing delays in signing the agreement with Live Nation, the preferred bidder, due to issues raised regarding the need for a precise safety inspection of existing structures during the negotiation process.
During his visit, Mayor Lee stated, "Ensuring safety is an essential step to achieve a high-standard project, but the entire project must not stall because of this." He strongly urged, "Please devise practical measures to accelerate the project, such as expediting the agreement signing and shortening the duration of the detailed safety inspections."
He further emphasized, "K-Culture Valley is more than just the construction of a performance venue-it is a core driver for creating a future-oriented industrial ecosystem in Goyang City. We will focus all available administrative resources, including support for permits and approvals, to shorten the project timeline."
An official from Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH), who accompanied the visit, also responded, "We will resolve uncertainties early through detailed safety inspections and will do our utmost to ensure the basic agreement with Live Nation, the preferred bidder, is signed as soon as possible."
Following this site visit, the city plans to continue close consultations with Gyeonggi Province and related organizations in order to resolve bottlenecks that may arise during the project implementation process.
