Araghchi: Iranian Experts to Meet with IAEA on March 2
Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Foreign Minister, stated that the third round of nuclear talks between the United States and Iran proceeded more seriously than before, and that there was agreement on most potential elements of an agreement, according to the Iranian state news agency IRNA on the 27th (local time).
After the talks concluded in Geneva, Switzerland, the previous day, Minister Araghchi said in an interview, "Both sides discussed the key elements that could form the basis of an agreement," adding, "There is agreement on most of these elements."
Minister Araghchi further stated, "More detailed discussions are needed on how to resolve these elements," and added, "For this purpose, our experts have agreed to meet with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) next Monday, March 2."
The fourth round of talks between the two countries will be held in about a week. He mentioned, "We will finalize the details as soon as the necessary documents are prepared and reviews are completed."
Regarding the expected U.S. military pressure, he pointed out, "The United States must choose whether to take the path of dialogue or the path of confrontation and tension. The Iranian nuclear issue cannot be resolved through military action."
He continued, "The United States has previously attempted to resolve the issue through military means, but achieved no results, and even after intensifying pressure this time, there have been no outcomes," emphasizing, "The only way for the United States to find a solution is through the ongoing dialogue and negotiations."
He also warned, "The United States should refrain from actions, attitudes, and remarks that raise tensions and hinder diplomatic efforts."
On the same day, Minister Araghchi spoke by phone with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty, stating, "Iran is committed to resolving issues through diplomacy," and added, "For this to succeed, seriousness and realism are necessary, and the other party must avoid misjudgment or exaggeration."
