Improving Commuting Conditions in Southern Okjeong
Route Adjustment and Additional Bus Reduce Waiting Times
Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province will increase the number of buses and change the route of city bus No. 99 to alleviate the inconvenience of long-distance commuting for students in the southern complex of Okjeong New Town, in time for the opening of Hoeam Middle School in March 2026.

This measure aims to address the lack of public transportation routes near Hoeam Middle School, which is scheduled to open in March 2026, and to create a safe and convenient commuting environment for students assigned to schools far from their homes.
According to the city, the route of city bus No. 99 will be partially modified. The new route will now pass by Hoeam Middle School, directly connecting residential complexes such as ePyeonhansesang Okjeong Metroforet, Yurim Norwegian Forest, The Park Foret, Jadewell, and Seyoung Richel Lake Park, securing a direct commuting route for students living in the southern area of Okjeong New Town.
Although the route has been extended due to the adjustment, the city actively petitioned Gyeonggi Province to increase the number of operating buses from six to seven. Additionally, during peak commuting hours for students, the interval between buses has been reduced from 20 minutes to 18 minutes, improving the commuting environment.
To implement these changes, the city completed consultations with Gyeonggi Province on revising the business plan in January 2026, and full-scale operation began on February 23, 2026. Moving forward, the city plans to continuously optimize bus routes through a "Bus Route Efficiency Improvement Study."
A city official stated, "It is important to take proactive measures to minimize the inconvenience of long-distance commuting for students due to the opening of new schools," and added, "We will continue to do our best to improve the public transportation environment for our citizens."
