Gwangju City Breaks Ground on 'Paldang Water Mist Park'
A Large-scale Waterfront Park to Be Built with 21.5 Billion Won Investment
A 274,000 Square Meter Eco-friendly Park to Open in Namjong-myeon Area
On February 27, Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Paldang Water Mist Park Development Project' at 596 Guyori, Namjong-myeon.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Bang Sehwan, along with National Assembly members, provincial and city council members, and local residents, all wishing for the safe and successful progress of the project.
The 'Paldang Water Mist Park Development Project' aims for completion in February next year, with a total project budget of approximately 21.5 billion won. The park will cover an area of 274,436 square meters along the waterfront. It will feature themed gardens such as a landscape garden, aquatic plant garden, and herb sample garden, as well as public amenities including walking paths (faire road), floating restrooms, and parking lots.
The project faced some delays in the permitting and administrative procedures due to various regulations, including development restriction zones, water source protection zones, and river areas. However, the city explained that it was able to commence construction now by continuously consulting with relevant agencies and carrying out the necessary procedures.
Mayor Bang Sehwan stated, "Paldang Water Mist Park will be a valuable space that adds relaxation and leisure to the daily lives of our citizens," adding, "We will do our utmost to create an eco-friendly, high-quality park that harmonizes with the natural surroundings of Paldang Lake."
