On February 27, Pocheon City held the opening ceremony for the "Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center" at the Industry-Academic Cooperation Building of Daejin University, officially launching the center as a support hub to help local small and venture enterprises enter the defense industry.

The event was attended by more than 80 participants, including members of the National Assembly, representatives from major defense institutions, and business leaders. In particular, officials from the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality (KRIT), Gyeonggi Province, Pocheon City, and Daejin University, as joint partners in the project, came together to share the significance of the center's opening and pledged mutual cooperation.
The opening ceremony included the national anthem, a progress report on the project, and congratulatory speeches. This was followed by an unveiling ceremony for the center's signage in front of the office and an introduction of key partner companies, marking the official start of operations.
The Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center was established to systematically support promising small and venture enterprises in Gyeonggi Province in entering the defense industry. The Defense Agency for Technology and Quality is responsible for the professional operation of the center, while Gyeonggi Province and Pocheon City provide funding. Daejin University supports the center with infrastructure and industry-academic cooperation, serving as a collaborative model. The center plans to offer comprehensive solutions for entering the defense market, including support for defense technology development, linkage with defense projects, test and evaluation support, and commercialization consulting.
Through the announcement made in the first half of the year, 38 companies were selected as partner companies eligible for support. The center plans to further expand its support scope by recruiting additional companies in the second half of this year. Partner companies will receive practical benefits, such as increased opportunities to participate in defense technology development and customized market entry support.

An official from Pocheon City stated, "The opening of the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center marks an important turning point for Pocheon City as it strives to become a hub for the defense industry," adding, "We will actively support companies with outstanding technological capabilities so they can gain competitiveness in the defense market, and through this, create quality jobs and revitalize the local economy."
Meanwhile, Pocheon City plans to leverage its abundant military-related infrastructure to foster advanced defense industries as a future growth engine and will continue to expand efforts to attract related companies.
