Debut of New Design Race Car at Qatar Season Opener on March 28
Peugeot has unveiled a new livery (exterior paint scheme) for its entry in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
The livery, revealed on February 26 (local time) at Atelier Vend?me in Paris, France, was the result of close collaboration between the Peugeot design team and Peugeot Sport. It features a reinterpretation of Peugeot’s visual graphic language, the “Hypergraph,” which visually expresses the brand’s performance identity.
The Hypergraph evolves the signature lion’s claw detail, found on all Peugeot models, into a more dynamic motif from a motorsport perspective. The gradient stripes on the body symbolize the speed and movement of the “9X8 race car” as it tears down the track, as well as the vast flow of data that is central to modern endurance racing.
Peugeot’s heritage is also reflected in the design. The livery adopts the iconic white, red, and black color combination that has represented Peugeot GTi models since the launch of the 205 GTi in 1984.
This design language is implemented in different ways across the driver’s racing suit, team equipment, and all operational elements, delivering a unified brand image for “Team Peugeot TotalEnergies.”
Matthias Hossann, Peugeot Design Director, said, “This is the result of the deep collaboration between Peugeot Design and Peugeot Sport.” He explained, “The modern color combination, which fuses the energy of the lion’s claw motif with the GTi spirit, will deliver greater emotional immersion and enjoyment on the track.”
Alain Favey, CEO of the Peugeot brand, stated, “The 2026 9X8 livery elegantly blends our unique heritage with technical progress, carrying on the legend of Peugeot GTi.” He added, “This is a symbolic project in which the brand identity and the team’s racing performance come together in one direction.”
The 2026 9X8 will make its racing debut at the WEC season opener, the “Qatar 1812km,” scheduled for March 28. Through its race cars for the 2026 WEC season, Peugeot plans to further strengthen its unique “French charisma” design theme.
