Suspected Violations of the Narcotics Control Act and the Medical Service Act
The police have launched an investigation into singer MC Mong (real name Shin Donghyun), who has been accused of obtaining prescription sleeping pills through his former manager.
According to the police and other sources on February 27, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul has taken over the case filed by Lim Hyuntaek, former president of the Korean Medical Association, who accused Shin of violating the Narcotics Control Act and the Medical Service Act, and is now investigating the matter.
Previously, last month, former president Lim filed a complaint with the prosecution via the National Sinmungo, claiming that Shin had allegedly received a prescription for the psychotropic drug zolpidem under his former manager's name.
The Seobu Police Station in Daejeon, which was initially assigned the case, reportedly summoned former president Lim as the complainant for questioning and then transferred the case to the Gangnam Police Station, which has jurisdiction over Shin’s residence.
