Gachon University was selected on February 27 as an operating university for the AI sector of the "2026 Advanced Industry Talent Development Bootcamp," a program promoted by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.
This selection is significant, as it aligns with Gachon University's recently announced "Comprehensive Guidelines for AI Education Innovation" and enables the university to simultaneously advance its internal AI education system and promote industry-linked practical training.
The Advanced Industry Talent Development Bootcamp is a project where universities and companies jointly develop and operate short-term intensive training programs of less than one year to cultivate practical talent that can be immediately utilized in industrial settings.
As a result of this selection, Gachon University will receive a total of 7,125 million won in financial support (1,425 million won per year) for five years from March 2026 to February 2031, and will jointly operate short-term intensive educational programs with companies. In the Seoul metropolitan area (Gyeonggi and Incheon), Gachon University was among four universities selected.
Through this bootcamp project, Gachon University will directly connect its existing educational innovation outcomes with industrial practice. The university plans to run short-term intensive tracks focused on generative AI and physical AI, and strengthen hands-on training by linking joint university-industry projects, field practice, and internships.
In particular, Gachon University has signed agreements with 40 AI-related companies, including Naver Cloud, Hancom Innostream, Doosan Robotics, and Upstage, to jointly operate courses, promote project-based learning (PBL), and implement recruitment-linked programs. Companies will participate from the curriculum design stage to ensure that field needs are reflected, and some courses will be directly linked to recruitment.
Lee Gil-ya, President of Gachon University, stated, "Gachon University has been transforming its education to focus on AI by strengthening faculty training, making AI education mandatory for all students, and innovating classes and evaluations. Building on this bootcamp selection, we will establish a fast-track for cultivating AI talent, nurturing practical K-AI professionals who can immediately demonstrate their abilities in the field."
