Pocheon City Hosts 2026 Empathy and Communication Meeting with Residents
Focus on Daily Life Projects Such as Road and Transportation
Supplementary Budget to Be Allocated in March, Completion Targeted for First Half of Year
On February 27, Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province held a briefing session on the progress of proposals from the "2026 Empathy and Communication Meeting with Residents" and conducted a comprehensive review of departmental action plans and future measures regarding suggestions received during the town-by-town meetings.
This briefing session was organized to review a total of 252 suggestions submitted during the "2026 Empathy and Communication Meeting with Residents," which toured 14 towns and neighborhoods from January 8 to 22. The session aimed to share the results of departmental reviews and implementation plans, as well as to further refine strategies for resolving the issues raised.
By category, road and transportation accounted for the highest proportion of suggestions at 33.3%, followed by daily life, housing, and environment at 17.8%. Administrative, welfare, and education matters, as well as culture, sports, and tourism, each made up 11.9%, indicating that the majority of proposals were closely related to improvements in residents' daily lives.
Each department, under the principle that "the answer lies in the field," visited the sites of civil complaints to listen to residents' opinions directly and comprehensively examined relevant regulations and budget conditions to determine feasibility. Based on these efforts, the briefing session established systematic management plans by categorizing the implementation stages for each proposal, whether budgets could be allocated, and identifying medium- and long-term review tasks.
In particular, projects directly linked to residents' daily lives and feasible for immediate implementation will be included in the March supplementary budget with the goal of completion within the first half of the year. For issues that are difficult to resolve in the short term, the city will actively seek alternative action plans to minimize inconvenience for residents and will pursue phased improvements in connection with medium- and long-term projects.
An official from Pocheon City stated, "We will not stop at simply receiving residents' suggestions, but will operate a year-round, continuous management system to regularly monitor progress," adding, "We aim to strengthen a system in which citizens' voices are truly reflected in policy and budget, and continue resident-centered administration based on empathy and trust."
