Song Eon-suk, floor leader of the People Power Party, commented on February 26 regarding the joint investigation team's search and seizure of the party headquarters in connection with allegations of mass membership by members of the Shincheonji Church. He stated, "The special prosecutor and the prosecution, acting as the regime's loyal dogs, are aiming to strike at the heart of the opposition," adding, "This is political oppression and annihilation of the opposition, and it is the very definition of dictatorship."
At a press conference held at the National Assembly that morning, Song said, "I would like to address the Korean people regarding the grim political reality: Korea has already entered a totalitarian dictatorship."

Song continued, "A short while ago, a search and seizure operation was conducted at the People Power Party headquarters. Following the special prosecutor, now the joint police-prosecution investigation unit is seeking to seize the party's list of members."
He further stated, "As today's ruthless search and seizure by the prosecution demonstrates, the relentless oppression and annihilation of the opposition is the hallmark of a one-party dictatorship. If dictatorship is justified by claiming the opposition has committed grave crimes, that tragedy will be recorded in history for a long time."
Song also said, "Ultimately, all such regression will end up harming innocent citizens," adding, "Recognizing that the current system is no longer a normal democratic republic but a dictatorship, we will mobilize every emergency measure and fight back."
