10,000 won participation allowance for non-overnight reserve forces training
The Ministry of National Defense announced on February 27 that, starting this year, participation allowances will also be paid for local reserve forces training that does not involve overnight stays, similar to mobilization training. Accordingly, a participation allowance of 10,000 won will be paid for the basic training conducted for 8 hours a day during local reserve forces training, and another 10,000 won for the operational plan (OPLAN) training conducted for a total of 12 hours over two days.
The training allowances for mobilization training have also been raised. For Type I mobilization training (formerly called mobilization training), which is conducted over three days and two nights, the allowance has been increased by 13,000 won from the previous level to 95,000 won. For Type II mobilization training (formerly called supplementary mobilization training), which is conducted over four days, the allowance has been raised by 10,000 won to 50,000 won. Meal costs during training have also been partially increased.
Meanwhile, to enhance the use of drones in reserve forces training, the Ministry of National Defense conducted a pilot program with the Army last year and announced that this year it will expand the program to include the Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. Through the expanded pilot program, the ministry plans to establish drone training methods tailored to the characteristics of each service branch. The 2026 reserve forces training will be conducted from March 3 at 143 reserve forces training centers nationwide.
