Go, an IT and platform expert who led AI innovation at KakaoBank
Role split: Go Jeonghee to advance platforms, Jang Yoonjung to expand global IP
Incumbent Co-CEO Kwon Kisoo to resign for personal reasons
On the 27th, Kakao Entertainment appointed Go Jeonghee, former Head of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Group at KakaoBank, as its new Co-CEO. The appointment will be finalized at the shareholders' meeting and board of directors' meeting to be held at the end of next month. Incumbent Co-CEO Kwon Kisoo will resign for personal reasons. As a result, Kakao Entertainment will shift to a co-CEO structure led by Jang Yoonjung and Go Jeonghee.
Go joined Kakao in 2002 and has since led the Daum Cafe and blog businesses and served as Chief Service Officer (CSO) at KakaoBank. Most recently, as Head of the AI Group at KakaoBank, Go led innovation in financial services. Going forward, Go will drive the advancement of Kakao Entertainment's platform and service strategies.
Co-CEO Jang Yoonjung will focus on intellectual property (IP) and global business. Jang plans to expand overseas activities for artists under Kakao Entertainment and SM Entertainment, and to broaden the global K-pop distribution network. Jang will also work on securing mega-scale IP and discovering new business opportunities.
The two CEOs stated, "We will establish a powerful value chain through premium IP and differentiated platform services, and position ourselves as a key player in the global entertainment industry."
