The Hansae Yes24 Cultural Foundation announced on the 27th that on the 26th it held the 39th Uidang Scholarship award ceremony at the Administrative Welfare Center in Eumbong-myeon, Asan, South Chungcheong Province, and presented scholarships and scholarship certificates.
The Uidang Scholarship is a scholarship program that selects high school students enrolled at schools located in Eumbong-myeon, Asan, South Chungcheong Province, who have excellent academic performance and exemplary conduct, and provides them with financial support. The Uidang Scholarship Association, founded in 1988 by the late Lee Yoonjae in honor of the wishes of her late husband, Dr. Kim Kihong, known by the pen name Uidang, selects one first-year student from each local high school every year and provides a scholarship of 1.9 million won per year for three years. To date, a total of 45 students have received scholarships amounting to approximately 180 million won.

At the award ceremony, Kim Dongguk, Chairman of the Operating Committee of the Uidang Scholarship Association, Eumbong-myeon Chief Lee Jeongseong, and others attended, personally presented the scholarships, and encouraged the students. This year’s scholarship recipient, first-year student Jeon Habin of Yi Sunshin High School, will receive the scholarship for the next three years and will also receive a separate entrance congratulatory grant upon admission to university.
In addition, a 1.2 million won entrance congratulatory grant was awarded to student Gong Jinpyo, who enrolled this year in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Chungnam National University. Gong said, “Thanks to the Uidang Scholarship, I was able to enter the department I had aimed for,” and added, “If juniors do not lose their original motivation and continue to work hard, they will be able to achieve the dreams they desire.” Scholarships were also delivered to existing recipients, third-year high school student Byun Jihu and second-year student Gong Hyojeong.
Eumbong-myeon Chief Lee Jeongseong said, “I am deeply grateful to the Uidang Scholarship Association for having been a strong support for the students, who are the future of Eumbong-myeon, for 39 years,” and added, “I hope the scholarship students will become the pride of Eumbong-myeon and grow into key talents who will lead the Republic of Korea.”

Meanwhile, the Hansae Yes24 Cultural Foundation is a pure public-interest foundation established in 2014 with private funds contributed by Kim Dongnyung, Chairman of Hansae Yes24 Holdings. Through various scholarship programs, including the Uidang Scholarship Association, the Global Fellowship (scholarship program for foreign students), which supports foreign nationals enrolled in domestic graduate schools, and the Seoul National University College of Commerce Advancement Scholarship, which provides tuition support to students with outstanding academic achievement at the College of Commerce at Seoul National University, the foundation is contributing to the development of global talent.
