Hoengseong County in Gangwon Province and the Hoengseong Office of Education have joined forces to build educational and cultural infrastructure where the local community and schools can coexist.

Hoengseong County announced that on the 26th it signed an agreement with the Hoengseong Office of Education to implement the construction of a school complex (Sports Education Center) at Seowon Elementary School.
The school complex project is a public contest program run by the Ministry of Education in which local governments and offices of education cooperate to create educational, cultural, and sports facilities that can be used jointly by students and residents. Its purpose is to expand childcare and convenience facilities and to proactively respond to the crises of low birth rates and regional extinction by sharing space with the local community.
This agreement was prepared to finalize specific details such as ownership relations, the implementing主?, and the sharing of operating costs ahead of the design and groundbreaking of the facility. Through this agreement, the two institutions decided to establish a close cooperation system to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
The school complex to be built on the playground site of Seowon Elementary School will require a total project cost of 15 billion won. It will consist of multipurpose spaces that can be used jointly by residents and students, including an indoor swimming pool, an indoor golf classroom, and the Neulbom Classroom program, and is scheduled for completion in 2029.
Lee Dalhwan, Director of the Administrative and Welfare Bureau, said, "The school complex will become a key hub for strengthening educational and cultural infrastructure and improving living conditions to overcome the crisis of regional extinction," adding, "We will do our utmost to promote the project so that it can become a model for balanced regional development."
