Gangwon Tourism Foundation (CEO Choi Seonghyeon, hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) and Sono International have established a close public-private cooperation system and begun attracting international visitors in order to successfully promote the "2026 Visit Gangwon Year" and to revitalize long-stay tourism in the region.
The Foundation announced that, together with Sono International, it will introduce joint partnership products designed to offer richer benefits to tourists visiting Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and to make Gangwon a destination that people want to revisit. Through this collaboration, the two organizations plan to work together to attract more domestic and international tourists and to boost the local economy.
As part of this collaboration, the special product "Blue Coast 2 Nights" has been launched as a two-night, long-stay package designed to allow visitors to fully enjoy Gangwon's beautiful coastline and natural scenery. This product is available at Sono Hotels & Resorts properties located at major hubs in the Gangwon region, including Sono Belle Yangyang, Sono Belle Samcheok, and Rene Blu by Sono Belle.
The package includes a two-night stay plus either breakfast buffet or two tickets to the water park (Ocean Play). Guests who book through the Sono Hotels & Resorts official online mall will receive special benefits designed for visitor convenience, such as welcome tea and late check-out on weekdays. Going forward, the two organizations plan to carry out joint marketing efforts to ensure the success of the "2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Year" and to continuously develop specialized tourism content that captures Gangwon’s unique charm. In particular, they intend to maximize synergy by combining the infrastructure of the private company with the Foundation’s promotional capabilities.
Choi Seonghyeon, CEO of Gangwon Tourism Foundation, said, "Our collaboration with Sono International, the largest hospitality company in Korea, will serve as an opportunity to raise the competitiveness of tourism in Gangwon to the next level," adding, "We will continue multifaceted cooperation so that visitors can stay longer in Gangwon and experience true relaxation, and in doing so, we will successfully lead the '2026 Visit Gangwon Year' initiative."
