During the evening rush hour on the 26th, a fire broke out at a restaurant in Bukchang-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, and the fire department began extinguishing the blaze.
According to the fire authorities, the Jungbu Fire Station received a report at around 6:22 p.m. that gray smoke was coming from a restaurant on the second floor of a commercial building in Bukchang-dong.
The fire authorities have deployed about 90 personnel and around 20 pieces of equipment to carry out firefighting operations. The first response team arrived at the scene at around 6:28 p.m., but the fire has not yet been brought under initial control.

As the fire broke out in the middle of downtown, thick smoke spread to nearby areas, causing ongoing confusion in the vicinity.
From around 6:48 p.m., some of the lower lanes of Sejong-daero between Sungnyemun and City Hall Station have also been closed for firefighting operations.
At around 7:28 p.m., Jung-gu sent a safety alert text message, asking, "Due to the building fire, a large amount of smoke is being generated, so nearby residents should be careful to avoid inhaling smoke, and vehicles should take detours."
