Peace Run, a non-profit corporation, announced on the 27th that it will begin accepting registrations for "2026 Jigureon: The Asian Highway," which will be held on Saturday, May 30, at the Culture Yard in Yeouido Park.
Marking its 4th edition this year, Jigureon is making a fresh start as Peace Run newly takes over as organizer from the former organizer Happy Companion, a non-profit corporation, and carries out a large-scale rebranding across the entire event. While maintaining the values and identity that Jigureon has upheld, the organizers plan to restructure it as a running event with a new concept, built on a more expansive message and scale.
Peace Run has set the main concept of this year’s event as "Beyond the Korean Peninsula to the Eurasian Continent, a road connected by our own two feet," and unveiled the title symbolizing this idea, "The Asian Highway." In line with this, the organizers plan to provide participants with a unique experience through key visuals and on-site content inspired by the image of traversing a continent.
The "Asian Highway" refers to a transcontinental international road network (the Asian Highway network) that connects major countries and cities across Asia. It is an immense international highway system with a total length of approximately 140,000 km that links 32 Asian countries like a mesh, and Korea is also expected to be included as a major stop on Asian Highway Route 1 (AH1), which runs from Tokyo through Korea to Bulgaria, and Route 6 (AH6), which runs from Busan through Russia to Georgia.
The concept of the Asian Highway, which connects different countries and regions into "one road," encapsulates the idea that cooperation across national and regional boundaries - in other words, peace and harmony - is needed. This serves as a symbolic keyword that translates the values of "connection" and "peace," which Jigureon has long pursued, into the practical act of "running."
Jigureon has established itself as a running event that puts into practice the power of positive influence with peace as its core value. In particular, it has continued activities that support veterans who devoted themselves to peace for their homeland and connect their spirit and message with the public, and this direction will be further strengthened in the 2026 event.
This year’s event will significantly expand its participatory content. In addition to the marathon, there will be a variety of on-site programs such as a Peace Wall where participants can share messages of peace, photo zones, and an event roulette. Participants will receive stickers on wristbands provided on-site for each event they take part in, and by verifying these, they will be able to receive rewards. The organizers aim to go beyond simple running and enhance both fun and message delivery through on-site experiences and mission-based events.
Furthermore, Jigureon has earned praise from participants as a "cost-effective marathon" thanks to its generous souvenirs, diverse corporate sponsorships, and colorful booth content, and these strengths will be showcased in an even more expanded format at this year’s event.
The first registration period will run on a first-come, first-served basis for 5,000 participants from today, the 27th, until March 31, and applications can be submitted through the official Jigureon website.
All participants will receive souvenirs including an official T-shirt, a finisher’s medal, a bib number, and wrist sweatbands, and the full lineup of souvenirs will be released later on the website and the official Instagram account.
This year’s event will feature two courses, 10 km and 5 km, and the detailed routes for each course will be announced later through the official channels.
A representative of Peace Run said, "The 2026 Jigureon will be more than just a marathon; it will be a festival where we directly create a road that connects without limits," adding, "Through the subtitle [There Is No Road We Cannot Run], we hope to convey Jigureon’s unique message that everyone can move freely, greet one another, and run together beyond borders, ideologies, and generations."
