CheokCheokBaksa Co., Ltd., a Busan-based exhibition and convention planning company, is set to accelerate the expansion of its "mutual growth popup cluster" business model. This initiative aims to overcome the limitations of popup stores being confined to specific spaces, instead connecting entire neighborhood commercial districts into a theme park-like experience.
Focusing on Gwangalli in Busan, where a popup ecosystem is emerging centered on street-level road shops rather than large distributors, CheokCheokBaksa has prioritized symbiotic growth with local businesses as its top mission.
CheokCheokBaksa's expertise in local symbiotic planning was clearly demonstrated during a local brand festival organized in conjunction with the Gwangalli tourism district. The event attracted approximately 9,841 valid visitors, achieving great success. Notably, CheokCheokBaksa distributed 10,000-won paper gift certificates on-site, carefully designing visitor flow so that participants would visit 20 local partner stores in the vicinity, including Lucky Sanghoe.
As a result, an average usage rate of 70 percent was recorded, directly generating a remarkable trickle-down effect of KRW 14.4 million in sales for the surrounding businesses during the event period.
Building on this proven expertise in operating local clusters, CheokCheokBaksa plans to officially establish local store-linked promotions as a core business model for future popup events. The company also intends to make active use of Busan's outdoor infrastructure to blend traditional culture with modern sensibilities, developing the popups into "experience-oriented festivals" that both tourists and local residents can enjoy, rather than simply commercial events.
According to a CheokCheokBaksa representative, "A successful popup should serve as an anchor that not only raises brand awareness but also revitalizes the local business community," adding, "Based on the local symbiotic planning capabilities we demonstrated in Gwangalli, we will continue to lead the way in creating genuine value by fostering growth for both local businesses and brands."
