Lee Hogyun, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea running for mayor of Mokpo in Jeollanam-do, has received final confirmation of his preliminary candidacy through a resolution by the party's Supreme Council and has begun his full-fledged election campaign.

On February 25, the preliminary candidate was deemed "qualified" for preliminary candidacy by the Democratic Party of Korea's Central Party Supreme Council, and on the morning of the 26th, he completed his official registration as a preliminary candidate with the Mokpo City Election Commission.

The preliminary candidate stated, "Having passed the party's strict verification process and been recognized as an official preliminary candidate, I will meet citizens with a sense of responsibility," adding, "Based on legitimacy, administrative experience, and policy competence, I will create a new turning point for Mokpo."

In local political circles, attention is being paid to the fact that, despite his relatively late start, the preliminary candidate has been on an upward trend in recent public opinion. Some analyses suggest that, once his organizational restructuring and policy campaign are fully underway following his official registration, this could become a variable in the election landscape.

The preliminary candidate emphasized, "Since I am standing before citizens in the name of the Democratic Party, I will be judged not by slogans but by my ability to deliver," and added, "I will envision a bigger future for Mokpo and create palpable economic vitality on the ground that citizens can truly feel."
