Regular General Meeting of the Gangwon Rural Experience and Recreation Village Association Held

At the general meeting, representatives, village managers, and other officials from rural experience and recreation villages across the province attended to share the achievements of projects carried out in 2025 and to discuss key project plans for 2026. In addition, 14 officials from outstanding rural experience and recreation villages that contributed to the development of rural tourism in the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province were selected and presented with commendation certificates.
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province operates the largest number of rural experience and recreation villages in the country and attracted approximately 2.34 million visitors in 2025 alone, posting total sales of 20.3 billion won. This performance demonstrates that rural tourism plays an important role in revitalizing the local economy. Building on these achievements, the general meeting focused on discussing measures to further promote rural tourism and strategies to strengthen publicity.
Kim Dongsik, Head of the Agricultural Policy Division of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, said, "Rural experience and recreation villages are opening up new avenues for Gangwon's tourism industry and are providing a strong boost to regional tourism and economic revitalization," adding, "In celebration of the Year of Visiting Gangwon, we hope that rural experience and recreation villages in the province will take another leap forward."
