One Regional Hub Center and Four Local Centers Newly Designated
The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on February 26 that it has selected five new cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease centers to enable rapid treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and to resolve regional disparities in medical services.
As a result of the public recruitment held last month, one regional hub center and eight local centers applied. Through the selection and evaluation process, the ministry selected one regional hub center and four local centers as new cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease centers.
Seongga Rollo Hospital in South Jeolla Province was selected as the regional hub center, while Daejeon Hospital in North Jeolla Province, Inje University Busan Paik Hospital in Busan, Jeju Halla General Hospital in Jeju, and Cheonan Chungmu Hospital in South Chungcheong Province were selected as local centers.
Since Seongga Rollo Hospital, which had previously been designated as a local center, has now been selected as a regional hub center, one local center position has become vacant and must be additionally filled. To this end, the ministry plans to conduct an additional public recruitment targeting five cities and provinces where no local center has yet been established (Gwangju, Daegu, Sejong, Gangwon, and South Jeolla Province).
Lee Joongyu, Director-General for Public Health Policy, stated, "Through this additional designation of regional hub and local cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease centers, we expect not only to complete definitive treatment for acute cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases within each region, but also to further strengthen medical accessibility."
