A truck driver who hit and killed a cyclist while making a right turn has been booked without physical detention.
The Gyeongnam Changwon Jungbu Police Station announced on the 26th that it had booked without detention a man in his 60s, identified as A, who was driving the truck.
According to the police, at around 5:44 p.m. the previous day, A is suspected of hitting a man in his 30s, identified as B, who was crossing the crosswalk on a bicycle, while A was making a right turn driving a 14-ton truck at the Changgok Industrial Complex three-way intersection in Sinchon-dong, Seongsan-gu, Changwon.
B, who was seriously injured in the accident, was transported to a hospital in a state of cardiac arrest but ultimately died.
A is reported to have stated to the effect that he did not see that anyone was coming.
The police have determined that A was neither under the influence of alcohol nor driving without a license at the time of the accident.
The police plan to secure dashboard camera (black box) footage from vehicles that passed by the scene at the time of the accident and investigate the exact circumstances of the crash.
