Teenager Who Assaulted Ex-Girlfriend and Attacked With Weapon Arrested After Fleeing

A teenage boy who went to his ex-girlfriend's house, assaulted her, attacked acquaintances who were there with a weapon, and fled has been arrested by the police.

The Jinju Police Station in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 26th that it had urgently arrested and was investigating teenager A on charges including attempted murder and causing bodily injury.

According to the police, at around 4:37 a.m. on this day, A went to the residence in Jinju of his ex-girlfriend B, who is in her 20s.

A, who entered after disguising himself as a delivery worker, is accused of getting into an argument with B and then assaulting her.

He is also accused of getting into a scuffle with woman C, who was at B's home, then swinging a weapon at C, and, during a physical fight with man D, who happened to be visiting B's home at that time, stabbing him with the weapon before fleeing.

C and D, acquaintances of B, suffered injuries to the abdomen and other areas and are being treated at a hospital; their lives are not believed to be in danger.

Responding to a report from B, the police analyzed closed-circuit (CC) TV footage and confirmed that A had fled the scene by taxi immediately after the crime, and they promptly requested a joint investigation from police agencies across cities and provinces nationwide.

After tracking him, the police arrested A at around 8:00 a.m. on a highway in Cheongju on the same day.

The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A after questioning him about the exact circumstances of the crime.
