SNT Energy Begins Commercial Operation of HRSG at Gumi Natural Gas Power Plant

SNT Energy has completed the delivery of the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), a key piece of equipment for the Gumi natural gas power plant project, and successfully begun commercial operation.

Commercial operation is the stage at which, after all installation and test runs have been successfully completed and government approval has been obtained, the plant actually starts producing and selling electricity.

According to SNT Energy, this project is a replacement for Korea Western Power's Taean Unit 1, the first domestic coal-fired power plant, and it has adopted the latest high-efficiency H-Class gas turbine technology that uses liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel.

SNT Energy directly received an order from Korea Western Power for the entire HRSG system and auxiliary equipment, which are the core facilities of the natural gas power plant, and successfully carried out not only design and manufacturing, but also installation and technical support for test runs.

In particular, this power plant is evaluated as an eco-friendly power generation model that keeps pace with increasingly stringent environmental regulations, as it is equipped not only with nitrogen oxides reduction systems but also with carbon monoxide reduction and dust prevention facilities, taking into account scalability in response to future regulatory tightening from the design stage.

An SNT Energy official said, "We are currently carrying out multiple HRSG projects of a similar scale that use H-Class gas turbines," adding, "Based on our proven technological capabilities, we plan to expand new orders and further strengthen our position in both domestic and overseas markets."
