Sokcho Mayor Lee Byungseon Inspects Site of Soon-to-Open "Sokcho Children's English Library" Lee Byeongseon, mayor of Sokcho, visited the Sokcho Children's English Library on the 26th to personally inspect the entire facility, reviewing the space layout and the status of operational preparations. This on-site round was arranged to directly review the space layout and operational preparations of the Children's English Library, and to identify any deficiencies before the opening. Mayor Lee sequentially toured key facilities such as the Children Zone, Reading Zone, Story Zone, Multimedia Zone, Magazine Zone, and rest areas, focusing on space efficiency, safety, and user convenience.

The Sokcho Children's English Library is the first English-specialized public library in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, created with the goal of fostering English reading habits among children and strengthening their global competencies.

With a total project cost of 5.8 billion won, it was built on the site of 1025-2, Gyodong, as a two-story above-ground building with a total floor area of 658 square meters. The city is currently finishing the interior work and arranging furnishings in preparation for the opening, and plans to officially open the library at the end of March as soon as all preparations are complete.

The library is designed to enable children to naturally encounter English through step-by-step English materials and experiential learning spaces. It will provide family-centered spaces that can be used by both children and guardians, and plans to support local children's learning and cultural development by operating a variety of English reading and experiential programs.

Once the English library opens, it is expected to become a major hub where children and families can relax and spend time comfortably, together with nearby facilities such as the Cheongchoho Amusement Water Playground and the Children's Traffic Safety Experience Center. Starting with the recently opened public postnatal care center and the soon-to-open English library, the city plans to further expand birth- and care-friendly infrastructure, taking another step toward becoming "a city that is ideal for having and raising children."

Mayor Lee Byungseon said, "The Sokcho Children's English Library is an English-specialized cultural space tailored to children's needs and an important piece of infrastructure that will elevate the local educational environment to the next level," adding, "We will thoroughly inspect the facilities and operational preparations before the opening so that citizens can use the library with peace of mind."
