Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province announced that it will carry out on-site promotional activities to support the bid to host the Jeonju Summer Olympics, in conjunction with the 107th National Winter Sports Festival being held across Pyeongchang, Gangneung, and Chuncheon in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province through February 28.
This promotional campaign is designed to directly communicate the necessity and vision of hosting the Jeonju Summer Olympics to delegations, coaches, sports officials, and spectators from across the country, and to broaden the base of support within the sports community.
Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province plans to carry the heightened nationwide interest and enthusiasm for sports, sparked recently by the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, into sports venues nationwide, and to expand this into empathy and support for the bid to host the Jeonju Summer Olympics.
A promotional team made up of officials from Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and the Jeonbuk Tourism Marketing Support Center will conduct on-site, venue-focused promotional activities at major stadiums and around the opening ceremony venue during the festival.
The main promotional activities will include guidance on participating in social media events, information on joining the Jeonju Olympics promotional supporters group, distribution of promotional materials, and operation of photo zones. These will be run mainly as experiential programs that allow delegations and spectators to participate naturally. In particular, the campaign will be concentrated at major venues such as Pyeongchang Mona Yongpyong, Phoenix Park, and the Gangneung Curling Centre, so as to effectively convey to athletes and spectators nationwide that Jeonju is a well-prepared city with the capability to host the Olympics.
The head of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province 2036 Summer Olympics Bid Committee said, "The National Winter Sports Festival is South Korea's representative winter sports festival, where athletes from all over the country gather in one place," adding, "We will naturally connect the heightened public interest in winter sports to empathy and participation in the bid to host the Jeonju Summer Olympics."
Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province plans to continue pursuing on-site, venue-centered promotional activities in connection with nationwide sports and cultural events, in order to spread the momentum for the Jeonju Summer Olympics bid across the entire country.
