The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education has gradually expanded pilot institutions and established a cooperative system to broaden kindergarten-elementary connection education.

The program has been implemented for 20 kindergartens (schools) in the 2023 school year, 42 kindergartens (schools) in the 2024 school year, and 84 kindergartens (schools) in the 2025 school year.

In the 2026 school year, among 324 kindergartens in the province, 273 kindergartens will operate in cooperation with 262 elementary schools through a cooperative system, and 51 kindergartens will independently operate their own connection education programs.

As a result of consistently holding connection education briefings, case-sharing sessions, and consulting since 2023 to raise awareness of the importance of connection education and enhance its implementation, cooperation will be achieved with 84.3% of elementary schools in the province in 2026.

The 2026 connection education program of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education will be implemented by: establishing operational plans tailored to the circumstances of each region and institution; integrating or concurrently operating different types of kindergarten-elementary connection curricula; strengthening the capabilities of kindergarten and elementary school teachers through professional learning communities, training, and case sharing; providing parent education and public outreach; and conducting operational evaluations such as monitoring changes in young children, shifts in awareness among parents and teachers, and satisfaction levels.

Tak Jinwon, Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, stated, "The 2026 connection education program will evolve beyond a simple linkage of curricula into a truly integrated education centered on the growth of young children," adding, "We will establish a sustainable connection education system that is developed together with the field."
