The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Korea Wind Energy Association announced that they will hold a commemorative event for the 3rd Korea Wind Day at Lotte Hotel Seoul on the afternoon of the 27th.
Korea Wind Day was first designated in 2024 to commemorate February 27, 1975, when the first wind turbine in Korea was installed at Jedong Ranch in Jocheon-eup, Jeju Island. Every year, stakeholders in the wind power industry gather to celebrate Korea Wind Day, share achievements and visions in wind power generation, and recognize contributors to the development of wind power.
About 250 participants from the government, industry, power generation public corporations, and academia will attend this year’s event.
At this year’s ceremony, commendations will be awarded to contributors who have helped advance the domestic wind power industry, along with the award ceremony for the 1st Windy Photo Contest, held for the first time this year under the theme “Life Cut with Wind Power.” This year’s awardees for the Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment’s Commendation are Yang Jinyoung, Team Leader at the Korea Wind Energy Association; Ryu Jaeyong, Director at K-VETS; Korea Electric Power Corporation (organization); and Daemyung Energy (organization).

The event will also include an introduction to the Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference exhibition to be held in Yeosu in June this year, as well as a presentation on the financing case of the Sinan Ui Offshore Wind Farm, which was selected as the first National Growth Fund project.
Shim Jinsu, Director-General for Renewable Energy Policy at the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, said, “As a key driving force behind the policy to expand the deployment of renewable energy, wind power generation will be promoted under a government-led and swift decarbonization policy,” adding, “In addition, we plan to establish a full life-cycle management strategy for wind power generation to build a safe and trustworthy wind industry ecosystem, and we ask for special attention to be paid to the safety management of wind turbines in the field.”
