Polaris Office is solidifying its position in Japan as an alternative to global software (SW) and is now fully embarking on enhancing its corporate value in the global market.
Polaris Office announced on the 26th that it had held a signing ceremony for the sale of its new product, "Polaris Office for Windows11," through Sourcenext, a company listed on the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in Japan.
The signing ceremony was attended by Ji Junkyung, CEO (Vice Chairman) of Polaris Office, and Tomoaki Kojima, CEO of Sourcenext. Polaris Office is currently supplying stand-alone PC office products and AI office services to the Japanese market through Sourcenext, and plans to launch stand-alone sales of the new product around March.
Recently in Japan, the issues of "deepening dependence on software from global big tech companies and the resulting heavy cost burden" have emerged as major economic topics. Leveraging its excellent compatibility and reasonable cost structure, Polaris Office is rapidly gaining a foothold in the local market.
Its performance growth is also steep. As of January, cumulative sales of package products in Japan surpassed 120,000 units. In particular, since its first sales in November 2023, the company has proven its firm market dominance by exceeding a 60% offline share in the office integrated software segment (products compatible with MS Office) at major local home appliance retail chains.
The new product "Polaris Office for Windows11" is optimized for the Microsoft Windows 11 (MS Windows 11) environment. By offering an intuitive user interface (UI) with enhanced consistency with Windows 11, as well as dark mode support, new functions, and a slide art space feature, it has significantly improved user convenience. In conjunction with rising local PC replacement demand due to the end of support for Windows 10, the company expects its sales scale to expand further.
Using the launch of this new product as a starting point, Polaris Office is activating a mid- to long-term market expansion strategy targeting small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), which form the backbone of the Japanese economy. The company plans to establish itself as an optimal DX (digital transformation) partner by providing a low-barrier, familiar environment to local SMBs that remain in analog work environments or are slow in digital transformation.
Ji Junkyung, Vice Chairman of Polaris Office, said, "In Japan's office software market, which is undergoing a massive structural transition, only companies that can integrate with the local business culture will survive," adding, "We will continue to maximize our market dominance in Japan by combining more than 10 years of accumulated compatibility technology with a thorough localization strategy and AI technology."
Meanwhile, Polaris Office became the first homegrown Korean office software company to win an AI Innovation Award at "CES 2025," the world's largest IT and home appliance exhibition. Building on this, the company plans to further prove the global competitiveness of its service "Polaris Office AI" and expand its base of paid subscribers.
